Congresswoman Capps came to Santa Barbara today to hear about how Santa Barbara County is utilizing the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (stimulus) money that has been awarded to the area.County Executive Officer Michael Brown and Supervisors Doreen Farr and Salud Carbajal welcomed the Congresswoman to the presentation of the County's implementation of the funds.
Workforce Investment Board Executive Director Ray McDonald spoke about how the money is funding the Summer Youth Jobs Program that is currently employing 56 at-risk County youth. Summer Program Coordinator Victoria Sanchez presented a slideshow of the youth working at their worksites.
Two summer interns, Sebastian C. and Elizabeth L. were working for Channel 20 at the presentation and met Congresswoman Capps.
